Be part of a special community

It is the people in our school that makes it special.

We are a church school and we have strong links with the St John’s church community. Our older children attend church each Thursday as part of collective worship and all children take part in special services such as Harvest and Christmas.

We have a wonderfully supportive “Friends of St John’s School”. Parents and friends regularly organise fund raising events such as our summer and Christmas fairs. Social events are also organised—such as our Christmas shopping trip to Meadowhall.

The Friends organise events that benefit the wider community—such as our annual firework display.

At St John’s we recognise that some families want to help out in school with children’s learning We have a wealth of talented parents, grandparents and friends who regularly support activities such as reading and art, as well as those who help out with one off special events such as school visits and special curriculum days.

We believe we have a strong and supportive community because our school is inclusive and welcoming. We also believe in making sure that everyone has the opportunity to put forward their views and ideas.

We will always try to make sure that you are able to meet with staff if you have a query and the school regularly consults parents about ways in which we can develop and make improvements. Our Pupil Council meet regularly and their work means that children also have the opportunity to influence school development.
